According to Daily Mail , Valerie's passion for travel "flared up" after the shock of her husband's death in December 2011.
At that time, to temporarily forget the sweet memories she had with her husband during Christmas, Mrs. Valerie decided to take her first solo trip to Cyprus (Republic of Cyprus).
Valerie's travels continued, traveling throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and North America on tours for seniors.

Most recently, in April, Valerie returned from a trip to Piedmont, Portofino and Cinque Terre in Italy. Speaking of the places she has visited, Valerie said Italy always holds a special place in her heart, because she loves the diverse cuisine , the atmosphere and the people there.

She also said that not all of her trips were perfect. There was a time when she encountered persistent rain in Italy and was "disillusioned" when she had to stay in a 5-star hotel without a wardrobe...
Yet each trip offers her a different experience, from temples in Thailand, colorful markets in Morocco, bustling excitement in Myanmar to breathtaking coastlines in Italy.
Valerie admitted that due to her age, she no longer has the balance she used to have, so she will not risk exploring high mountains where the path is just a trail.
"However, I can still go up the stairs if there is a railing to hold on to. I understand my limits," said Valerie.
During her travels around the world, Valerie met many friends her own age. However, these relationships were only fleeting. In fact, many of her friends passed away shortly after their travels.

Currently, Ms. Valerie still keeps in touch with some close friends, and constantly makes travel plans for herself. She also expressed regret that she has not yet realized her dream of going to South America - something she has wanted since she was young - because current conditions do not allow it.
However, she also believes that each stage and moment in life has its own value. This October, Valerie will turn 87 and she has no intention of stopping traveling abroad.
From now until the end of the year, her schedule is full with specific plans: June to Opatija (Croatia), September to travel to Albania and at the end of the year, a return trip to Switzerland - a place she has visited 6 times and still wants to go again.
