According to a VNA correspondent in Havana, Cuban officers and senior managers highly appreciated Vietnam's national security policy - a key factor in protecting the Fatherland and developing the country in the context of complicated international developments.

At a seminar at the Cuban National Defense Academy, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long highlighted traditional and non-traditional security challenges that Vietnam and many countries in the world are facing, such as armed conflicts, cyber warfare, water security, population aging, etc.

Ambassador Le Quang Long emphasized that to solve the above problems, it is necessary to maintain and strengthen the Party's comprehensive leadership; correctly and fully identify national interests in the country's development and the current volatile international environment; and identify national defense, security and foreign affairs as important and regular tasks to ensure national security according to the strategy of protecting the Fatherland early and from afar.

Besides, Ambassador Le Quang Long affirmed the necessity of strengthening international cooperation to resolve non-traditional security issues, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

Ambassador Le Quang Long reaffirmed that Vietnam has always been consistent in its foreign policy of “independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship and development cooperation, multilateralization and diversification of relations; being a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community;” and firmly upholding the “4 no’s” defense policy.

Vietnam's Defense White Paper clearly states the "4 no's" defense policy: Not participating in military alliances; not aligning with one country to fight another; not allowing foreign countries to set up military bases or use territory to fight against other countries; not using force or threatening to use force in international relations.

On behalf of the students, Director of the Cuban National Defense Academy - Colonel Rigoberto Quintana Velázquez assessed that Vietnam's policies and strategies to ensure national security are practical and valuable references for Cuba in the current situation.

Colonel Rigoberto Quintana Velázquez affirmed the similarities between Cuba and Vietnam, two socialist countries under the leadership of the Communist Party; at the same time, expressed the desire to further strengthen defense cooperation, contributing to consolidating and developing the special solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two brotherly nations of Cuba and Vietnam./.
