On June 4, the Department of Food Safety - Ministry of Health sent an official dispatch to the Phu Yen Department of Health regarding the investigation and handling of suspected food poisoning cases.
According to the document, upon receiving information about a suspected food poisoning incident that occurred after eating a buffet at a restaurant in Tuy Hoa City, causing 7 people to be hospitalized, the Food Safety Department requested the Phu Yen Department of Health to urgently implement the following contents:
Direct hospitals with patients being treated to focus resources on actively treating food poisoning patients, not to affect their health and lives.
Organize investigation and trace the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food samples and specimens for testing to find the cause.
Temporarily suspend the operation of meal processing facilities suspected of causing food poisoning; investigate and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any), and publicize the results to promptly warn the community.
Propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to ensure food safety conditions, strictly control the origin and source of food ingredients, ensure hygiene throughout the process of food preparation, processing, transportation, three-step food inspection, and food sample storage.
Strictly implement the contents of the Ministry of Health's official dispatches on implementing the Prime Minister's directive on strengthening food poisoning prevention.
Tuy Hoa City People's Committee also issued a document assigning the City Medical Center to preside over and coordinate with Ward 7 People's Committee to urgently inspect and verify the incident, and report the results to the City People's Committee no later than June 5.
According to Mr. Le Huynh Linh - Director of Tuy Hoa City Medical Center, this morning (June 4), the unit coordinated with the Food Safety Department of Phu Yen Department of Health and Ward 7 People's Committee to work at the restaurant, collect samples and conduct inspection steps according to regulations.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , the above patients were admitted to the emergency room on June 3 with the same symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramps... after eating a snail buffet at P.D.V. restaurant (Ward 7, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen) on the evening of June 2. Currently, the patients' health is gradually recovering.
