On April 4, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a decision to appoint the Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration to the position of Director of the Department of Science, Technology, Training and Environment under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The decision takes effect from the date of issuance.
Mr. Dang Ha Viet was previously the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports and Physical Education. He was an athlete, held many different positions and made many contributions to the sports industry. In 2022, Mr. Dang Ha Viet was appointed as the General Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Education to replace Mr. Vuong Bich Thang, who retired under the regime.
Vietnamese sports have recently achieved achievements in regional arenas such as the SEA Games, but have not been successful and have shown signs of falling behind when participating in major "playgrounds" such as the Asian Games or the Olympics. At the 2024 Paris Olympics (France), the Vietnamese sports delegation did not complete the set goals. According to experts, the current achievements of Vietnamese sports stem from systematic preparation work many years ago.
Recently, the Vietnam Sports Administration has also restructured, downsized and rearranged its personnel according to the policies of the Party and the Government.
