On August 13, the U21 Women's Volleyball World Cup took place in the round of 16. In the morning, Thailand faced the defending champion China.
At the national team level, these two teams are not too unfamiliar with each other. China, with its superior volleyball background, often shows dominance. But Thailand has also made miracles a few times. One of them was at the 2023 Asian Championship, when the Southeast Asian representative won to take the title.
However, at this U21 World Championship, Thailand's women's volleyball team was completely outclassed. China, the defending champion, created an overwhelming game, not giving the opponent any chance to show off.
Throughout all 3 sets, Thailand was completely helpless against the tall blockers, while their backline's defense was very "leaky".
China had no difficulty in winning 25-15, 25-18, 25-19.
Another representative of Southeast Asia, Indonesia, also faced an equally strong opponent, the current U21 runner-up, Italy.
In fact, the home team passed the group stage with an unconvincing result, losing 4 out of 5 matches. But with U21 Vietnam being disqualified, they got a ticket to continue.

Therefore, it was no surprise that Indonesia lost just as quickly as Thailand. They only improved by winning 1 set unexpectedly when their opponents were careless.
But for the most part the home team could not trouble Italy. The European representative won overwhelmingly 25-12, 25-19, 21-25, 25-13.
Coincidentally, with this result, the Thai and Indonesian women's volleyball teams will face each other directly in the next match, the qualifying round from 9 to 16. This promises to be a fierce competition with many fates.
