Breakthrough in mobility

American robotics company Figure AI made a strong impression when it launched an automated production line capable of producing 12,000 humanoid robots per year. Meanwhile, Chinese home appliance giant Midea Group was not far behind when it introduced a prototype of a humanoid robot developed by itself.

Notably, Chinese startup Unitree attracted a lot of attention when its humanoid robot G1, nicknamed the "kung fu robot", successfully performed a backflip - a major milestone in the industry. Previously, Unitree's robot H1 also made a splash when it performed a folk dance on national television.

Participation of the "big guys"

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang predicts that humanoid robots will be widely used in manufacturing within the next five years. Automakers like Chery and home appliance companies like Haier are also investing heavily in humanoid robots for applications in factories, stores, and homes.

Shenzhen Dobot, a startup that makes robotic arms, has caused a stir when it announced plans to sell humanoid robots for 199,000 yuan ($27,520) each.

The robot has been tested in auto factories, electronics plants and cafes, and is expected to be mass produced by mid-2025.

China aims to take the lead

China observers say the government is pushing to deploy humanoid robots in industries, especially in repetitive and dangerous jobs.

The manufacturing sector is seen as the first "testing ground" for humanoid robots in China, and widespread use in industry will pave the way for robots to enter households.

With remarkable advances and the participation of technology giants, humanoid robots are predicted to have a great impact on many industries and daily life. The race to mass produce humanoid robots between the US and China is heating up every day, promising to bring breakthroughs in the future.
