Accordingly, at around 5:30 a.m. on May 5, after a night of fishing, fisherman Ngo Van Minh's boat (Tay An Vinh village, Ly Son island district, Quang Ngai province) returned to the island. At this time, fisherman Minh suddenly discovered a sea turtle caught in a "ghost" net about 1 nautical mile west of Ly Son island.
Mr. Minh contacted the Ly Son Marine Reserve Management Board to inspect and carry out rescue.
This is a green turtle, shell size is 48cm x 44cm, weight is 12kg, health is weak, injured in the two front fins and two back fins due to being entangled in the net for a long time.

Staff of the Ly Son Marine Reserve Management Board provided first aid, applied medicine, bandaged the turtle, and brought it back to its cage for monitoring before releasing it back into the sea.

"Ghost" nets are waste nets that fishermen accidentally or intentionally throw into the sea, not only increasing waste but also destroying marine life, especially turtles.
