Attending the memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong at the National Funeral House were General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man. At the memorial service, President Luong Cuong, Head of the Funeral Committee, read the eulogy, reviewing the biography, career, and great contributions of former President Tran Duc Luong to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people. The eulogy stated: Over 50 years of revolutionary activities, training, striving, and maturing, from the time he was regrouped in the North (February 1955), comrade Tran Duc Luong studied and worked in the geology sector until he became a member of the Politburo and President; he held many positions in many fields of work, from science and technology to practical economic development, culture, society, education, foreign affairs... especially in the early stages of the renovation process initiated and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam .
As Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (from February 1987 to August 1992) and Deputy Prime Minister (from September 1992 to August 1997), comrade Tran Duc Luong made many important contributions in leading and organizing the implementation of the Party's renovation policy, helping the country overcome the difficulties and challenges of the early renovation period.
As a member of the Politburo and President, comrade Tran Duc Luong, together with the Party and State leadership, focused on leading and directing the entire Party, people and army to effectively implement the Resolution of the 8th National Party Congress, the resolutions of the Central Executive Committee and the National Assembly; at the same time, closely coordinated with legislative, executive and judicial agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to perform the duties and powers of the President and Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council in accordance with the Party's policies and guidelines, the provisions of the Constitution and laws.
Comrade Tran Duc Luong has made important contributions to building and developing a socialist-oriented market economy; successfully implementing the foreign policy of expansion, diversification, and multilateralization in all fields, actively and proactively integrating into the regional and international economy, opening up great opportunities for the country's development; strengthening national defense and security potential, maintaining political and social stability; enhancing the role, position, and prestige of Vietnam, actively contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.

With 88 years of age, 65 years of Party membership, and more than 50 years of revolutionary activities, comrade Tran Duc Luong has constantly strived to devote all his efforts to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the happiness of the people. Regardless of his position, he always fulfilled his duties well and excellently, and was a shining example of revolutionary ethics, impartiality, and lifelong devotion to the country and the people," President Luong Cuong read the eulogy.
On behalf of the family, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, son of former President Tran Duc Luong, delivered a speech in response, expressing deep gratitude to the leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, leaders of localities, agencies, organizations, units; high-ranking leaders of countries, international friends, diplomatic agencies, compatriots, comrades... who came to offer condolences and see off his father to his final resting place.
Attending the memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong at Thong Nhat Hall (HCMC) were comrades: Former President Nguyen Minh Triet; former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee Tran Luu Quang; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc; and former leaders of the Party, State, and Ho Chi Minh City; intellectuals, representatives of ministries, departments, branches, localities, organizations and units in the Southern region.
In the solemn atmosphere, many delegates were moved and could not hold back their tears as they bid farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong. In his speech of thanks, comrade Nguyen Van Duoc said that the funeral of comrade Tran Duc Luong received the boundless condolences of leaders, former leaders, comrades and the people. At the Reunification Hall, there were 428 delegations with more than 3,600 visitors coming to pay their respects.

Dedicated to the country and the people
At 7:30 a.m. on May 25, the funeral procession for former President Tran Duc Luong began. General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong carried the coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong, and the honor guard escorted the coffin from the National Funeral Home to the hearse. At 7:50 a.m., the hearse carrying the coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong left the National Funeral Home and headed to Noi Bai International Airport to be buried in his hometown of Quang Ngai at 3:00 p.m. the same day.
At 11:00 a.m., the flight carrying the coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong landed at Chu Lai Airport (Quang Nam Province). The hearse then took the coffin of the former President to his hometown in Dong Bo Mountain (Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho Town, Quang Ngai Province) to hold the funeral ceremony.
Attending the funeral were comrades: National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia, along with leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; leaders of Quang Ngai province, revolutionary veterans, intellectuals, representatives of agencies and religions, a large number of people from all walks of life and the family of former President Tran Duc Luong.

At exactly 3 p.m., the official funeral began. After the Honor Guard performed the burial ceremony, the leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and the family dropped the first flowers on the grave where comrade Tran Duc Luong rests.
To pay their respects to former President Tran Duc Luong, delegates observed a minute of silence in front of the coffin. To the sound of drums, gongs and the music “Soul of the Martyr”, family members and Party and State leaders took turns burning incense, circling the grave, and bidding farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong for the last time.
After the funeral ended, hundreds of people still lingered to enter the tomb of comrade Tran Duc Luong to burn incense and say goodbye. While offering incense, Mr. Nguyen Tan Si (a war invalid and veteran revolutionary in Duc Phong commune, Mo Duc district, Quang Ngai province) emotionally said: The passing of Uncle Tran Duc Luong has made every citizen in his homeland Quang Ngai and the whole country very sad and regretful. Throughout his life of working and dedicating himself to the country and the people, Uncle Tran Duc Luong has always been exemplary, loyal, devoted, and devoted to the country, the people and his homeland Quang Ngai.
