On August 27, news from Soc Trang General Hospital said that the hospital's doctors had just performed timely surgery to save the life of a Singaporean male patient who suffered from a life-threatening myocardial infarction.
Earlier, in the early morning of August 24, patient Y. (53 years old, Singaporean) was traveling in Soc Trang City when he suddenly felt tired, sweaty, and had chest pain. His relatives immediately took him to Soc Trang Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Patient Y. is being treated at Soc Trang General Hospital.
Here, doctors performed an urgent electrocardiogram and discovered that the patient had a first-hour, large anterior Killip 4 myocardial infarction. The patient was actively resuscitated, treated for shock, and quickly taken to the cardiac catheterization room for emergency coronary angiography.
Through coronary angiography, the doctor discovered that the patient's blood clot was completely blocked at the ostium of the anterior interventricular branch and the distal segment of the left coronary trunk, with a severe prognosis and a very high risk of death.
The patient was immediately treated with coronary artery stenting. After about 30 minutes, the surgery was successful, the patient no longer had chest pain, and blood pressure improved. The patient's health is currently stable, continuing to be monitored and treated, and he may be discharged in the next few days.
Doctor Truong Tu Trach, Deputy Director of Soc Trang Provincial General Hospital, said that patient Y's blood clot was completely blocked at the opening of the anterior interventricular branch and the distal segment of the left coronary trunk, with a very high risk of death if not treated promptly.
Through the case of the myocardial infarction patient mentioned above, Dr. Trach recommends that if people experience chest pain, shortness of breath, or sweating, they should quickly go to the hospital for examination and timely intervention.
