Previously, baby NPH (2 years old, living in Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province) followed his family to his uncle's house to play when he was suddenly attacked by the family dog. Immediately after that, the baby was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Upon examination, the doctor found a very complicated wound on the head, over 10 cm long, exposing the skull and brain, and severe facial abrasions. The child was hospitalized for close monitoring and emergency wound suturing. The child was then advised to get rabies and tetanus shots.

According to doctors at Can Tho Children’s Hospital, the case of baby H. is a warning to families with dogs, especially those with small children. Dog bites not only cause physical injuries but can also be life-threatening if not treated promptly.

Doctors recommend that when a child is bitten by a dog, the bite should be washed immediately with soap for at least 15 minutes; the child should be taken to the hospital as soon as possible; no leaves should be applied, and no self-treatment at home...
