At the ceremony, the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee presented a letter of commendation from the Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang to Dr. Vo Thai Trung, Deputy Head of the Department, in charge of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Binh Duong General Hospital.

BSCKII Vo Thai Trung (5th person, from left) received a letter of commendation from Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang.
In the letter of commendation, on behalf of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang sent to Dr. Vo Thai Trung and the entire surgical team, nurses, technicians and support staff of Binh Duong General Hospital his deep praise and appreciation for their efforts, dedication and sense of responsibility in a challenging task recently - successfully performing a special surgery rich in humanity: reattaching the right hand of a patient who was 34 weeks pregnant with twins. The success that the doctor and team achieved is not only a proud professional mark but also a testament to the courage, intelligence and medical ethics of the medical team of Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, as reported by Health and Life Newspaper, in September 2025, patient Le Ngoc P. was admitted to the hospital with a crushed lower third of his forearm and a completely severed right hand due to a work accident. The patient was pregnant with twins, and the health of the mother and fetus faced many risks.
In order to preserve living tissue and prepare for future regeneration, the surgical team decided to temporarily transplant the hand to the right leg, maintaining continuous blood flow for nearly two months. This is a difficult microsurgical technique, requiring close monitoring and coordination of many specialties.

On November 28, the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology coordinated with the Department of Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation and related units to conduct a surgery lasting more than 12 hours, separating the hand from the temporary graft site and reconnecting it to its original anatomy.
The entire vascular, tendon, and nerve system was reconstructed using sophisticated microsurgical techniques, while the fetus's condition was constantly monitored. After surgery, the hand was warm and pink, with slight movement, and the patient was undergoing rehabilitation according to the protocol.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, this success is the result of standard coordination between specialties, "racing every minute to save the patient's limb", and is also a great motivation for the hospital in the context of the city promoting the development of specialized medical care.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City awarded Certificates of Merit to three groups: Binh Duong General Hospital, Department of Trauma and Orthopedics, Department of Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation and one individual: Dr. CKII Vo Thai Trung, Deputy Head of Department in charge of Trauma and Orthopedics, who played a key role in the surgery.
Director of Binh Duong General Hospital, Dr. Le Ngoc Long, said that the commendation letter from the City Party Secretary and the Certificate of Merit from the City People's Committee Chairman are important rewards and sources of encouragement, adding motivation for the medical team to continue researching and applying new techniques, improving the quality of treatment and bringing the best recovery opportunities to patients.
