From December 3-5, the Ministry of Health organized the opening of the "I am a good population propagandist" contest. The contest is an opportunity to recognize, honor and encourage groups, especially the population propagandists who are directly carrying out communication work at the grassroots level.

Gathering nearly 200 propagandists from 11 provinces and cities representing regions across the country, the contest is a forum for communication, sharing experiences and introducing effective communication models and initiatives.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen stated that in recent years, with the close leadership of the Party and State, the coordination of ministries, branches, localities and the consensus of the whole society, our population work has achieved many important achievements: population size has been reasonably controlled, population quality has been gradually improved, average life expectancy has increased, reproductive health and maternal and child health care have made much progress.

However, according to Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen, besides the achieved results, we still face many challenges such as: the birth rate is different between regions, the gender imbalance at birth has been initially controlled but is still at a high level, the population aging rate is increasing rapidly, health problems of the elderly and population quality still have many limitations...

These contents were specified by the Politburo in Conclusion No. 149-KL/TW dated April 10, 2025 and proposed key tasks and solutions to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 21-NQ/TW on population work in the coming period, including the solution "Innovating the content of propaganda and mobilization on population work".

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen said that in order to concretize Conclusion No. 149-KL/TW, the Ministry of Health has advised the Government to submit to the National Assembly a draft Population Law, including 01 chapter regulating population communication; it is expected that on December 10, 2025, the National Assembly will vote to pass the Population Law.

At the same time, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen emphasized that in order to effectively implement important solutions of strategic significance in population work, it is necessary to build a team of truly dedicated and creative propagandists who have a firm grasp of the Party and State's policies and guidelines, and at the same time have the ability to convey and spread population messages to each residential area, each family and each person.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, the teams overcame geographical distance, the heavy workload at the end of the year, and even overcame severe difficulties caused by natural disasters and floods to return to Hanoi to participate in the "I am a good population propagandist" contest with the highest sense of responsibility.

The timely coordination between provinces/cities with the Central Government and the Organizing Committee, along with the elaborate and methodical content that the teams have prepared, shows serious investment in training and a high sense of responsibility for the population and development of the country.

The contest consists of four main parts: Greeting, Knowledge, Talent, and Eloquence. Contestants take turns sharing models, cultural features, and solutions to improve the effectiveness of population communication at the grassroots level, while also performing theatrical performances associated with population messages.

Director of the Department of Population Le Thanh Dung, Head of the Organizing Committee - Head of the Jury of the contest, affirmed: "The population propagandists at the grassroots level - those who directly bring population policies to each village, each family, each community are an important force contributing to the implementation of population and development goals in the past time and the next stages".
