Faced with the complicated developments of infectious diseases in the fall and winter, Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 is synchronously implementing many solutions to protect the health of patients and medical staff. Enhanced measures include spraying disinfectants, killing mosquitoes and insects, and tightening medical waste management according to regulations of the Ministry of Health and Environmental License.
The changing weather creates favorable conditions for many epidemics to break out such as seasonal flu, COVID-19, dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, viral diarrhea or respiratory infections. To proactively respond, the hospital has initiated a comprehensive cleaning campaign: regular disinfection spraying, mosquito eradication, environmental sanitation inspection and elimination of stagnant water throughout the entire campus.

These activities are carried out simultaneously in all departments and rooms: examination area, inpatient treatment area, administrative area, dining area, patient's family accommodation area and the entire corridor - surrounding landscape. The Infection Control Department is responsible for planning, chemical selection, monitoring of preparation and spraying techniques in accordance with biosafety guidelines.
MSc. Dr. Vu Van Bang - Head of Infection Control Department - said: "Disinfection and mosquito control spraying is maintained regularly, especially during the changing seasons. This is an important measure to help limit cross-infection, ensuring safety for patients, medical staff and the community."

Along with epidemic prevention work, Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 also strictly implements regulations on hazardous medical solid waste management. The hospital arranges a waste storage area on campus, fully meeting the technical requirements according to Circular 20/2021/TT-BYT. Collection, storage, transportation and transfer for treatment are carried out in accordance with regulations and the Environmental License.

Every year, the hospital allocates funds for waste treatment and signs a contract with a qualified unit (Green Environment Production, Trade and Service Company Limited - Nam Sach Industrial Park, Hai Phong). Records and logbooks for waste delivery and receipt are fully updated to serve the inspection and supervision of the management agency.
The hospital also regularly organizes training on waste classification, collection and treatment for medical staff, patients, relatives and cleaning staff. Specialized staff are assigned to monitor records, contracts and make periodic reports according to regulations.

During the implementation process, the hospital also encountered some difficulties such as: the amount of hazardous medical waste increased during epidemics; the external treatment unit occasionally adjusted the collection schedule due to weather or transportation; a number of patients' relatives did not strictly follow the instructions for waste classification. However, all were controlled thanks to strict procedures and environmental incident response plans, including a plan to handle sudden increases in waste volume.
With the strong direction of the Board of Directors and the proactive spirit of the departments, the work of epidemic prevention, infection control and medical waste management is being implemented effectively and synchronously. These efforts contribute to building a Green - Clean - Beautiful hospital environment, safe and meeting infection control standards, for the health of patients and the community.
