To develop solid professional techniques, Kien Giang General Hospital has closely cooperated to receive professional support and technology transfer with many large hospitals. Notably, the cooperation with Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City; training, professional support, and technology transfer in Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Central Hospital of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery in Ho Chi Minh City.

In parallel, the hospital also closely cooperates with Kien Giang Oncology Hospital and Kien Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in performing surgery, paraclinical, supplying and using blood and blood products. This multi-level connection creates an important foundation for medical staff to access new techniques, gain practical experience and improve their skills.

In the 2 years of 2024-2025, there has been a "boom" in training activities at Kien Giang General Hospital. The Line Training Department has become a "strategic hub", coordinating the organization of many conferences, scientific seminars and training courses, attracting nearly 1,000 medical staff in the hospital and 370 staff from neighboring facilities.

The training program series has a wide range of content, from key clinical techniques to hospital quality management. Notably, the online seminar on "SCAI C - Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction" organized by Cho Ray Hospital; "Safe management in the operating room: Muscle relaxation and regional anesthesia"... attracted great attention, helping the team to continuously update new medical knowledge along with many specialized seminars from central hospitals to help medical staff to always be updated with new medical knowledge.

Effectiveness of technology transfer from the Central level

Kien Giang General Hospital has determined that the focus of its strategy to improve professional qualifications is to receive new techniques from upper-level hospitals. In 2024-2025, the hospital will receive the transfer of the technique "Surgical treatment of mandibular condyle fractures with alloy screws" from the Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in Ho Chi Minh City. This is a technique that requires high precision, helping to effectively treat maxillofacial injuries that previously required referral. Maintaining the transfer of key techniques along with a continuous training network has significantly improved the quality of treatment.

Taking full advantage of the remote consultation and treatment platform, Kien Giang General Hospital is one of the units actively participating in the remote medical examination and treatment system of the Ministry of Health. Through the online platform, the hospital regularly connects with Cho Ray Hospital and other central hospitals to exchange experiences, consult on complex issues and update clinical guidelines.

Every month, clinical departments participate in regular sharing with Cho Ray Hospital, helping to shorten the professional gap between the provincial and central levels, creating conditions for medical teams to confidently handle difficult clinical situations right at the local level.

According to Dr. Truong Cong Thanh, Director of Kien Giang General Hospital, the hospital's new facility will be put into operation in May 2021 with a scale of 1,020 beds, ranked as a specialized unit of the province. By 2025, the hospital is approved to increase to 1,350 beds to meet the growing demand for medical examination and treatment.

Built according to the modern hospital model, Kien Giang General Hospital strongly develops key areas including: cardiovascular intervention, cerebrospinal intervention, peripheral vascular and visceral intervention, open heart surgery, endoscopic surgery, microsurgery, spinal surgery, hip and knee replacement.

These advanced techniques help people access quality medical services close to home, reducing the burden of referrals and treatment costs. Thanks to training and technology transfer from leading hospitals, Kien Giang General Hospital is gradually building a sustainable professional ecosystem: medical staff are constantly updating their knowledge, new techniques are standardized, and key areas are increasingly perfected.

Kien Giang General Hospital aims to maintain and develop high-tech, specialized techniques and continue to expand professional cooperation with the Central level. With a strong foundation and the right direction, Kien Giang General Hospital is affirming its position as a general hospital with strong techniques, helping people in the province as well as neighboring Cambodia to benefit from medical facilities with solid expertise.
