According to CNN, former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump's posting of information about the risk of his being prosecuted and arrested has received mixed reactions in American politics.
On social media, Donald Trump announced that he could be arrested on March 21 in connection with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's investigation into his payment of $130,000 to actress Stormy Daniels. There has been no official announcement about the arrest warrant. Donald Trump said that he is hated by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and that the Manhattan District Attorney's Office is politically motivated.
Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said any potential indictment of the former president would represent “outrageous abuse of power” by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Kevin McCarthy has asked the relevant committees to immediately investigate whether federal funds were misused to interfere in elections, through what he described as a politically motivated prosecution of Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a member of the Democratic Party, said that the information Donald Trump provided was intended to incite violence.
