Speaking to SGGP Newspaper, a source from Cho Ray Hospital said that as soon as the incident occurred, two helicopters took the 9 victims from the rig to Ho Chi Minh City on the night of May 21.
Ambulances and crews were on standby at Tan Son Nhat Airport, quickly transporting the victims to Cho Ray Hospital at 3am on May 22. This transfer only took about 15 minutes, helping patients receive early treatment, minimizing sequelae.
After examination at the Emergency Department, the doctor determined that there was 1 patient with minor injuries, who was treated with a back brace and discharged later. At the same time, 7 patients were transferred to the Burn - Plastic Surgery Department and 1 patient was transferred to the Orthopedic Trauma Department.

According to Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, Head of the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, the most severe patient suffered burns to 38% of his body, had edema, had difficulty breathing, and had to be intubated and put on a ventilator. This case is being monitored in the intensive care unit.
Some other cases suffered severe burns from 19% to 21%, with a risk of respiratory burns. Doctors are monitoring and assessing the situation.
At the Orthopedic Trauma Department, patient CMP (43 years old) is being treated for a fractured right heel bone, left knee injury, ligament rupture, and right wrist injury.
It is expected that the treatment team will examine the images and assess the injury to have an appropriate plan.
