Wilson had a previous conviction for sex crimes involving children before being sentenced to nine years in prison.

According to The Sun , the 55-year-old former assistant referee lured the victim from a taxi rank to his apartment. He promised to take him to a party with many girls. After the victim went inside, the former assistant referee locked the door and forced the victim to perform a sex act before raping him in 2009.

Wilson evaded justice until 2021, when the victim recognised him from a newspaper article about Wilson's other sex crimes and immediately reported him to the police. Wilson was eventually sentenced to nine years in prison for rape and sexual assault at Worcester Crown Court.

Wilson, formerly known as Stephen Dorr, was promoted to the Premier League referees' list in 2005. However, in 2009 he was found to have downloaded pornographic images and been in regular contact with teenage boys. In 2011, Wilson was sentenced to 15 months in prison for child sex offences.

Speaking after the trial, Detective Inspector Chris Hawkes of West Mercia Police said: "Wilson's victim was extremely frightened during the time he was locked in the flat and feared for his safety as he did not know who Wilson was or what he was capable of."

"His nightmare lasted for three or four hours. When the light outside had gone, Wilson allowed him to leave. We are delighted to have achieved this result, which brings justice to the victim who suffered a humiliating and terrible experience in 2009," added Chris Hawkes.
