Da Nang: Traffic safety assessment for the period 2021-2023

On the afternoon of April 10, the Department of Construction, the Traffic Police Department of the City Police and the Office of the Traffic Safety Committee of Da Nang in collaboration with Vital Strategies within the framework of the Global Road Safety Initiative, sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies, organized an analysis of the Report on the assessment of road traffic order and safety in the city for the period 2021 - 2023.

According to the report, from 2021 to 2023, the traffic accident death rate in the city will decrease from 11.9 to 9.1 per 100,000 people. Statistics, analysis and assessment show that motorcyclists account for 87% of total deaths, of which nearly half are due to collisions with trucks, tractors and container trucks. In recent years, Da Nang city has been implementing many active and effective solutions and measures to ensure traffic safety and order. The focus is on handling locations, areas and routes with unreasonable traffic organization and risks of traffic insecurity; Investing in public transport, especially the high-quality bus system, contributing to reducing dependence on personal vehicles, thereby reducing conflicts and traffic congestion; Developing infrastructure that is friendly to pedestrians and cyclists; Strengthening the enforcement of traffic safety laws, combining enforcement and communication to change the behavior of drivers. Currently, Da Nang city has been gradually upgrading the system of collecting and managing data on traffic safety and order, based on the analysis of causes, subjects, ages, times, routes, and types of vehicles. Thereby, the authorities propose solutions and measures to ensure truly effective traffic safety and order.
