(VNA) - According to the People's Committee of Mong Cai City (Quang Ninh Province), the 2025 border sim flower festival associated with preserving the cultural identity of ethnic groups will be held from May 17-18 in Hai Son commune with many attractive activities attracting tourists and people to participate in the experience.

With the theme “Purple border, connecting heritage”, the festival expresses pride in the majestic and sacred borderland. The festival will be held at a number of tourist attractions in Hai Son commune such as: Hai Son Commune Cultural - Sports Center, Po Hen National Historical Site, Landmark 1347(2), Dang Family Hamlet of Po Hen Village, 26 Ho Hamlet of Than Phun Xa Village, Ma Thau Son Sim Hill, Luc Chan Village...

The festival's activities include: incense offering ceremony at Po Hen National Historical Site; opening ceremony and introduction and exchange of products, specialties and cuisine of Mong Cai city and neighboring mountainous localities such as Hai Son, Bac Son, Quang Nghia, Ha Lau communes (Tien Yen); Huc Dong, Dong Van (Binh Lieu).

There are also sports activities and folk games such as: men's and women's football tournaments; men's and women's spinning top tournaments; "Finding the red address of Po Hen National Historical Site" running tournament; folk games: blindfolded grapefruit catching, stick pushing, shuttlecock throwing, monkey bridge, blindfolded duck catching, pot smashing, banana tree climbing, stilt walking, turtle cart pushing, Dao and San Chi ethnic bridal makeup contest; folk dance exchange...

Visitors to the festival can visit the cultural space of ethnic groups, experience weaving, embroidery, wrapping and pounding rice cakes, visit the Hai Son community tourism mural village, witness the Dao ethnic group's coming-of-age ceremony, the San Chi ethnic group's coming-of-age ceremony, the Dao and San Chi ethnic group's wedding ceremony; the Tac Sinh dance of the San Chi ethnic group, and admire the purple sim hills blooming along the Vietnam-China border...

Through the activities at the festival, we aim to preserve, promote, honor, introduce, reproduce and advertise the image, potential advantages, and exploit the traditional and unique cultural values ​​of the ethnic groups in Mong Cai city in general and the mountainous border communes in particular.

The 2025 Border Sim Flower Festival is associated with many diverse activities to continue to concretize and effectively implement resolutions, projects, programs and plans on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector and developing Tra Co National Tourist Area (Mong Cai) by 2025, with a vision to 2030.
