At around 9am the same day, the Tien Sa Port Border Guard Station discovered a dolphin weighing about 200kg washed up by waves near the wharf area. At this time, the dolphin was swimming sluggishly near the wharf, showing signs of exhaustion, with many scratches on its body.
Immediately upon arriving at the scene, officers and soldiers of the Border Guard Station performed first aid measures to help the dolphin recover its initial health. After that, the unit coordinated with some fishermen to use boats to take the fish to deep water far from shore.
At around 10 o'clock, the dolphins were released back into their natural environment in deep water offshore, where they could swim normally.
Major Tran The Dung, an inspector and supervisor at the Tien Sa Port Border Guard Station, who directly participated in the rescue, said that this was the first time a dolphin had been stranded in the Tien Sa Port area. It is likely that the dolphin was caught in a net, weakened, and washed ashore by the waves.
