On the morning of July 28, at the Concentrated Information Technology Park, Danang Software Park No. 2, the Launching Ceremony of the Laboratory Project for Advanced Packaging Technology Production (Fab-Lab) invested by VSAP LAB Joint Stock Company took place.

Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung and the delegation attended and directed the program.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said this is an important event in the context of Vietnam implementing major policies of the Party and State on developing the semiconductor industry.

Vietnam's semiconductor industry development strategy is expressed through the formula C=SET+1, affirming that Vietnam participates in all stages of the semiconductor industry from human resource training, research, design, to packaging, testing and production.

The priorities identified are specialized semiconductor chips, semiconductor chips serving the electronics industry, IoT, becoming a global semiconductor talent center, and a +1 destination for a more secure global semiconductor supply chain.

With the establishment of the Laboratory for Advanced Packaging Technology Production (Fab-Lab), VSAP Lab is expected to develop advanced packaging technologies and train a team of highly qualified engineers and experts, serving as a starting point for "Make in Vietnam" technology products and a place to inspire the young generation's desire to master technology. Each lab like VSAP will be an important piece in creating an ecosystem for the development of the national semiconductor industry.

“The Ministry of Science and Technology is committed to continuing to closely accompany Da Nang city and businesses on the journey by supporting the development of investment incentive mechanisms and policies and the development of a semiconductor industrial ecosystem in the Central region; creating favorable conditions for lab models such as VSAP to access investment funds and state-level science and technology tasks. At the same time, the Ministry will strengthen connections with international cooperation programs in the fields of research, design, packaging, and testing of microchips, contributing to realizing the aspiration of a Vietnam mastering strategic technologies," Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized.

The Fab-Lab project is a pioneering model in Vietnam, of strategic significance in developing core technology, concretizing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo and the Strategy for developing Vietnam's semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The project is invested with a total capital of 1,800 billion VND, built on an area of 2,288m2, with a total floor area of more than 5,700m2, expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The project is divided into two main areas: Lab area and Fab area (conducting trial production on real wafers, with advanced equipment such as photolithography, wafer bonding and international standard measurement systems). The expected design capacity is 10 million products/year, serving domestic and international markets.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Luong Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed that the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation is the leading breakthrough in the 2025-2030 term.

VSAP Lab is expected to become a model "Fab-Lab", integrating research, testing, manufacturing and training, serving advanced microchip packaging for AI chips, sensors, biomedicine and high-speed communication devices.

Da Nang City is committed to creating favorable conditions in terms of infrastructure, administrative mechanisms and human resources for the project to be implemented on schedule, safely and effectively. VSAP Lab will be the nucleus of forming a semiconductor innovation cluster, contributing to realizing the aspiration of building Da Nang into a high-tech center of the country and hoping to become a "magnet" attracting brainpower, the cradle of advanced packaging technology "Make in Vietnam."

At the program, the delegation of the Ministry of Science and Technology met and discussed with 26 start-up enterprises operating in the field of semiconductors and artificial intelligence at Da Nang Software Park No. 2, which received space support according to the city's policy mechanisms.

The delegation acknowledged the reality and listened to recommendations from the business community; thereby, contributing to perfecting support policies and promoting connections between the subjects: government - training institutions - enterprises - research units in developing the high-tech ecosystem in Da Nang city./.
