Da Nang studies building urban areas on the sea like Dubai

Meeting voters on the morning of April 25 in the three districts of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe and Lien Chieu, Mr. Quang informed that the urban project on Da Nang Bay is expected to create about 48 km of new coastline, aiming to form a complex of international financial, commercial and service centers.

Mr. Quang emphasized that this is a large-scale and unique project, so the city leaders are directing relevant units to continue to carefully research, develop detailed plans and especially seek investment formulas with separate mechanisms to ensure the project's success.

"The shape of the urban area on the bay will likely be similar to Dubai's coastal urban development model," said Mr. Quang, adding that if successfully implemented, this project will create a strong driving force for Da Nang's socio-economic development in the coming decades, contributing to building a new image and brand of international stature for the city.

The Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee said that the city is nurturing the ambition to become the first locality in the country to build a "city on the sea" model with the highlight being 5 artificial floating islands in Da Nang Bay. This idea was highly appreciated by General Secretary To Lam during a recent field survey and promised support from the Government.

In parallel, the National Assembly is expected to discuss the Resolution on building an international financial center in both Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Mr. Quang analyzed that this is a strategic step based on the advantages of each locality, in which Da Nang stands out with its strategic location, attractive living environment, good security and the government's determination to attract high-quality human resources and investors, including international billionaires.

Another important element in Da Nang’s development strategy is the research and submission to the Government for approval of a free trade zone model with a specific economic institution. This model is expected to be a pillar supporting the international financial center, creating a strategic pair to promote sustainable development, attract investment in the fields of manufacturing, logistics, high-end trade and services, create jobs and attract talent.

In his role as Head of the Steering Committee for the construction and development of the Da Nang City Financial Center, Mr. Quang called for the people's support to realize these great goals.

Regarding the merger with Quang Nam province, Mr. Quang informed that the new Da Nang city after the merger will have an area of about 12,000 km2 and a population of over 3 million, becoming one of the largest localities in the country. The merger will not only take advantage of Da Nang's unique mechanism but also promote the potential of Quang Nam, with the spirit of solidarity being the key factor to realize the policies after the merger.

"Quang Nam and Da Nang were originally a unified entity, temporarily separated for 27 years to develop separately and are now ready to return to the common roof," he said.
