Head of the Doan Trai block security team, Mr. Huynh Duc Canh, said: All 480 households with 1,500 people were flooded 2-3 meters deep, completely isolated since October 27. By noon on October 30, it continued to rain heavily in this area, causing the flood water that had just subsided to rise again; many houses were still flooded up to the roof. Thanks to the proactiveness of the people, there was no major damage to people or property.
Inside the residential area, people had to move around by boat and canoe; most households had these means of transport ready. Because the floodwaters poured in and rose so quickly that people were unable to react in time, many households had their appliances and cooking stoves soaked.

Ms. Huynh Thi Lang said: "For 4 days now, I have not been able to cook. Thanks to the family next door who was still there early, they were able to help me and some other households."
As the owner of a tailor shop in Doan Trai block, Ms. Huynh Xuan Huong said: The water rose very quickly, many items were not raised high enough so they were soaked in water; luckily the kitchen was raised high enough, and the house still had gas so I cooked rice to supply some surrounding households.
Doan Trai block is located in a low-lying area, surrounded by high barriers, so it is prone to flooding during the flood season. The reality of life has helped people gradually proactively cope with floods, but "it is still very difficult to have food and drinking water. Only a unit has supplied 70 boxes of instant noodles and a quantity of bottled water, people still need a lot" - Mr. Canh said.

Previously, a series of other locations and residential areas in Da Nang city were submerged by floodwaters. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Hoa Xuan ward, who owns a grocery store on Highway 1, said: This is the first time the flood is this high, my family has to continuously stock up. Every year the flood only comes on the streets, but now it is so high that it reaches the houses, affecting the lives of people around here a lot.
On the afternoon of October 29, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sa, Hoa Tien ward (Da Nang) and her family had to rush to Hoa Xuan ward to take her 90-year-old mother-in-law out of the flooded area of Hoa Xuan ward. "Because we were afraid that if the floodwaters rose again, we wouldn't know what to do!"
Meanwhile, heavy rains and floods have caused severe flooding in many places, affecting the lives of other people. In recent years, Da Nang City has experienced rapid urbanization and many construction projects have attracted a large number of workers from the Central and Southern regions. The unusual development of this flood has made some members of the labor force uneasy.

Mr. Lai Van Chung, a bricklayer from Ca Mau, had to quickly take his family to Highway 1 with many other workers to catch a bus to the South. Mr. Chung said: "The rain and floods were too much, the floodwaters were rising quickly, we didn't know when they would stop, so we had to go back to our hometown to avoid the flood."
Xom Ghe block, Hoa Xuan ward, has also been heavily flooded for the past 4 days. Many households here have proactively evacuated themselves and supported and helped each other in times of natural disasters and calamities.
