On November 15, American travel magazine CnTraveller announced a list of the 11 best destinations in Asia in 2024, selected based on the criteria: new experiences, events and accommodation options. "This continent wants to remind international tourists of what they might miss," the American travel magazine wrote.
Da Nang is listed second on the list, after Chinatown in Bangkok, Thailand. Travel experts around the world appreciate the beaches in this "city of bridges", as well as its prime location near the ancient town of Hoi An and the ancient capital of Hue.
Da Nang is "one of Asia's most successful examples of post-Covid tourism recovery". In the first 9 months of the year, Da Nang welcomed more than 1.6 million international visitors, exceeding the target set at the beginning of the year of 1.5 million. Many international flights have reopened from Da Nang airport, contributing to bringing more tourists to the city.
The Son Tra Peninsula, 20 minutes from the city center, is also a tourist attraction, home to the 17-story, 67-meter-tall Lady Buddha Statue as well as the endangered red-shanked douc langurs that live in the nature reserve. Central Vietnamese specialties such as Mi Quang are another highlight of the trip here. Hotel and resort developers have also taken notice of Da Nang’s recent popularity.
Other destinations mentioned in the list include: Kathmandu Valley Nepal, Kobe city Japan, Kochi India, Mongolia, Ras Al Khaimah UAE, Red Sea Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Silk Road Uzbekistan, south central region of Sri Lanka.
Participants in the destination vote are travel experts from around the world. In addition to providing information about the destination, the experts must give convincing reasons why they should visit this place.
Asia took longer than other places to lift Covid-19 restrictions, but the tourism industry is expected to recover strongly.
