National Assembly delegates concerned about school meals, cyber violence

On the morning of June 20, responding to the issue of school meals not having good control over the origin of food, affecting students' health, the Minister of Education and Training proposed that it is necessary to follow the principle of "one job, one management point".

Regarding the issue of school meals, delegate Nguyen Hoang Uyen, National Assembly Delegation of Long An Province, said: The origin of food is not well controlled, causing food poisoning at schools, seriously affecting the health of students. In fact, food mainly comes from food suppliers outside the contract with the school.

Responding to delegates about the inspection and supervision of school meals and solutions to thoroughly resolve this situation, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son expressed his agreement with delegates on the need to pay special attention to controlling safe food for schools. Ensuring food safety and hygiene in schools is implemented according to the Joint Circular between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Training.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Son suggested that it is necessary to assign a focal point, the Ministry of Health, to ensure unified and strict management, in accordance with the principle of "one job, one focal point".

Besides, it is necessary to strengthen local control. If "we do not control from the root, and do not control the origin of food well, then inspection and supervision in schools is just the tip of the iceberg" - Mr. Nguyen Kim Son said.

The delegate questioned: When will there be no more school violence?

Responding to delegates, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that everyone wants every school to be a happy environment, free of violence. However, schools are also an inseparable part of society, when the walls surrounding schools are increasingly fragile, separating schools from outside. The Internet, social networks and media are erasing that gap.

"If one day there is no more violence in schools, that will be the day adults stop fighting." Minister Nguyen Kim Son said: 70% of students who commit violent acts have special family circumstances. They have witnessed violence, or have been subjected to violence that has affected their psychology and behavior.

According to the Minister of Education and Training, the important task of education is to educate morality, personality, and guide students' behavior. The most important part still lies in the family and the example of adults.

According to the delegate, the problem of school violence is about the helplessness of goodness. But goodness and kindness depend a lot on family and society. Many countries have restricted students from using smartphones and social networks because they provide both good and bad, good and evil that children are exposed to but cannot control themselves. Delegate Trong Nghia said that it is necessary to promote the role of family and society in addition to the role of the state.
