Pursuant to Decision No. 839/QD-TTg dated April 26, 2025 of the Prime Minister appointing Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of Military Region 1 to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense and Decision No. 824/QD-TTg dated April 24, 2025 of the Prime Minister appointing Major General Truong Manh Dung, Commander of the 12th Corps to hold the position of Commander of Military Region 1, at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai handed over the position of Commander of Military Region 1 to Major General Truong Manh Dung.

Major General Truong Manh Dung is a cadre who received basic training, grew up from the grassroots, and was trained and tested through many working positions. In his position as Commander of the 12th Corps, Major General Truong Manh Dung, together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Corps Command, led and directed the Corps to successfully complete all assigned tasks, many of which were completed excellently.

Major General Truong Manh Dung has made many contributions to building the 12th Corps "refined, compact, strong", advancing towards modernization, and is always respected, learned from, and followed by Party committees at all levels, officers, and soldiers of the entire corps.

Concluding the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong agreed with the handover minutes and congratulated Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai and Major General Truong Manh Dung on being entrusted with new tasks.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong affirmed that over the past years, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, in his position as Commander of Military Region 1, together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Military Region Command, has led and directed the Military Region's armed forces to comprehensively complete their tasks, many of which have been completed excellently.

In particular, Military Region 1 has helped the Ministry of National Defense effectively carry out the State management of national defense in the area; regularly maintain strict combat readiness regime, grasp the situation, promptly and flexibly handle situations effectively, avoid being passive and surprised, contribute to firmly protecting territorial sovereignty, maintaining political security, social order and safety, building and consolidating the all-people national defense, a solid people's position; build a comprehensively strong Military Region 1 with comprehensive quality and increasingly improved combat strength, meeting the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
