Dam Ha - the first district in the country to achieve advanced new rural standards

On February 23, the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee of Dam Ha district (Quang Ninh) held a ceremony to receive Dam Ha district's recognition as an advanced new rural area and Dam Ha Communal House Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

After more than 10 years of persistent and persistent efforts to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Development, Dam Ha district has synchronously invested and increasingly modern infrastructure, the appearance of the countryside has clearly changed; the potential and advantages for socio-economic development have been clearly defined.

The district forms concentrated production areas applying high technology and 2 agricultural zones applying high technology in aquaculture and livestock farming.

Currently, Dam Ha is the only district in the province providing disease-free shrimp breeds, marine fish breeds, and mollusc breeds using high technology for the markets of the Northern and North Central provinces; the material and spiritual life of the people is constantly improving, the district no longer has poor households according to national criteria.

By the end of 2022, the district will have 8/8 communes meeting new rural standards; 5 communes meeting advanced new rural standards; 2 communes meeting model new rural standards.

Dam Ha is honored to be the first district in the country to be recognized by the Prime Minister as a district that meets advanced new rural standards.

In Dam Ha district, there are currently 8 relics that have been inventoried and ranked, 3 folk artists, 17 types of folk performing arts, 5 types of social practices that have been inventoried to compile a dossier to be included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the province; the district has 2 traditional festivals: Dam Ha Communal House Festival, Trang Y Communal House Festival and a number of unique festivals of ethnic minorities.

Dam Ha communal house festival plays a particularly important role in the spiritual and cultural life of the community, imbued with the cultural identity of the residents of the Northern Delta, combining the unique features of folk performances of hat nha to-hat and communal house dance of coastal residents.

Dam Ha communal house festival has been maintained, practiced and passed down from generation to generation by the community, and has a strong influence on the spiritual and cultural life of the ethnic communities in Dam Ha district.

Based on the proposal of Dam Ha district and Quang Ninh province, on November 10, 2023, Dam Ha Communal House Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as one of 36 National Intangible Cultural Heritages.

Dam Ha District Party Secretary Do Thi Ninh Huong emphasized that Dam Ha will continue to practice traditional rituals in a civilized manner, serving the spiritual and cultural life of the people well, associated with the socio-economic development of the locality.

In particular, Dam Ha will continue to do a better job of teaching and promoting heritage to the general public and tourists, creating a unique cultural space associated with educating the local historical and cultural traditions./.
