People complain about difficulty in buying gold, what does the State Bank say?

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Linh ( Ho Chi Minh City), from June 12, 2024 to now, banks have decided to only allow people to buy gold under the condition of having registered to buy SJC gold online to minimize difficulties and long waiting times when buying gold.

However, according to Ms. Linh, this is also causing difficulties for buyers. For more than a week now, she has been following the announcement and accessing at exactly 9 am to register to buy gold online at 4 major banks. But she has not been able to register successfully even once. Ms. Linh has also registered at many other branches of all 4 banks but has not been able to register.

Ms. Linh requested that the authorities consider and come up with solutions so that people can buy gold at stable prices.

Responding to citizens' feedback, the State Bank said that, implementing the directions of the Government and the Prime Minister on continuing to implement solutions to manage the gold market, from June 3, 2024 to present, the State Bank has organized the sale of SJC gold bars through 4 state-owned commercial banks and Saigon Jewelry Company Limited (SJC Company) to sell gold bars directly to people.

After a period of implementation, to limit the situation of large gatherings and prevent the phenomenon of hiring people to queue up to speculate on buying gold at gold selling points, 4 state-owned commercial banks and SJC Company implemented online gold selling registration.

In addition, according to the report, SJC Company still sells gold bars directly at the announced points. Therefore, customers can choose to buy gold according to the instructions of 4 state-owned commercial banks and SJC Company as mentioned above.
