Arrested while waiting to deliver 24,000 synthetic drug pills to receive 2 billion VND

Lao Cai Provincial Police discovered and arrested a subject with a registered residence in Son La Province, who was waiting to deliver 10 heroin cakes and 24,000 synthetic drug pills to receive 2 billion VND in Sa Pa town (Lao Cai).

Information from Lao Cai province on March 8, through professional work, the reconnaissance force of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Lao Cai Provincial Police discovered a transnational drug trafficking and transportation ring from Laos through other provinces to Lao Cai for consumption or transit to a third country in large quantities.

The working group of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Lai Cai Provincial Police organized to arrest the subject. At the police investigation agency, the subject confessed to being Giang A Mua, born in 2001, residing in Kho Hong village, Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district, Son La province.

Mua confessed to receiving drugs from a Laotian at the Vietnam-Laos border in Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district, Son La province. Afterwards, Mua carried a backpack containing the drugs and traveled by motorbike towards Ban Xeo commune, Bat Xat district (Lao Cai). While stopping by the roadside to wait for someone to pick up the drugs and hand over 2 billion VND, he was arrested by the authorities.

Evidence seized at the scene included 10 heroin cakes, 24,000 synthetic drug pills and a number of other related documents.

Information from Lao Cai province said that while controlling the subject, due to the darkness and the steep hill with many sharp and slippery rocks, Captain Tran Quang Huy, Deputy Team Leader of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Lao Cai Provincial Police, fell and was injured. However, the task force was still determined to successfully arrest the subject.
