Offering incense in memory of Lawyer - Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho

On the morning of December 24, at the Memorial House of Lawyer - Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho (Tuy Hoa City), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate Lawyer - Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho on the 27th anniversary of his death (December 24, 1996 - December 24, 2023).

The speech presented by Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thai at the incense offering ceremony stated: Lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho, alias Ba Nghia, was born on July 10, 1910 in Long Phu commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province. He was a typical patriotic intellectual, an excellent political activist and leader. Since 1947, Lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho participated in the patriotic movement of Saigon - Cho Lon intellectuals, demanding that the French colonialists negotiate with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam to end the war of aggression.

During his revolutionary career, Lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho was arrested by the Ngo Dinh Diem government. In 1955, he was placed under house arrest in Phu Yen for 6 years (1955-1961). On October 29, 1961, the Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee successfully liberated him. This was one of the important historical events, a great achievement of the Phu Yen Party Committee and People, contributing to the victory of the struggle for national liberation and national reunification.

In February 1962, at the First Congress, Lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho was elected Chairman of the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam. The lawyer also held important positions such as: Vice President, Acting President, Chairman of the National Assembly , Chairman of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front...

The time under house arrest in Phu Yen left deep feelings in Lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho's heart and he considered Phu Yen his second homeland. The imprint of his life and work is respectfully preserved by the Party Committee and People of Phu Yen at the Memorial House of Lawyer - Chairman Nguyen Huu Tho (Tuy Hoa City).

In December 2023, the Provincial People's Council issued a Resolution adjusting the investment policy of the Lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho Memorial House project at land plot 01 Tan Da, Ward 1, Tuy Hoa City. The total investment of the project after adjustment was raised to more than 21 billion VND, an increase of about 6 billion VND compared to before. The project is expected to be completed and put into use in 2024.
