Is it mandatory to pay the application fee on time?

Sharing in the program, Dr. Ha Thuc Vien, Vice President of Vietnam-Germany University, said that from July 31 to August 6, candidates will enter the stage of paying the admission fee - the second step in the admission process. Accordingly, candidates need to pay attention to specific regulations when performing these operations.

Dr. Vien said that the Ministry of Education and Training has issued an official dispatch on the implementation of online payment of university admission registration fees in 2024 with specified time frames for each province/city. Accordingly, there are 6 different time frames for 6 regions with specific provinces/cities. Candidates will pay the admission fee according to the province/city where the candidate is living and studying, that is, the place where the candidate has just submitted the application and graduated from high school, not according to the address of the province/city where the university the candidate wishes to study is located. The form of fee payment is through the National Public Service Portal with 17 main online payment channels nationwide.

In response to the concerns of candidates who register for 10 wishes, Master Tran Van Trang, Deputy Head of Admissions Department of Saigon International University, said that candidates must pay the admission fee for the number of wishes they register for. According to the technique of implementing the fee payment, the system will automatically calculate the total amount of fees to be paid based on the number of wishes the candidate has registered. With 20,000 VND/wish, if registering for 10 wishes, the amount of fee to be paid is 200,000 VND.

"There are many channels for candidates to pay the fee. You should choose the channel you regularly use for easy and convenient payment. When the payment is successful and confirmed by the Ministry's information portal, the candidate will be recognized as having completed the fee," Master Trang noted.

A candidate asked the program: "Do candidates have to pay the admission fee on time?". Mr. Vo Ngoc Nhon, Deputy Director of the Admissions Consulting Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, advised: "In the system of the Ministry of Education and Training, if candidates do not enter on the correct day according to the time frame of each area, the payment button on the system will be hidden and the operation cannot be performed."

From there, Mr. Nhon advised: "This is a pivotal stage in your life, so there is no need to create risks. Candidates need to follow the prescribed time to carry out the admission process in accordance with regulations and in the most favorable way."

Is the benchmark fluctuating ?

Dr. Ha Thuc Vien said that reviewing the results of this year's high school graduation exam shows that most of the average scores of subjects have not fluctuated, some subjects fluctuated but very slightly. This has had an impact on the benchmark scores of the majors.

However, according to Dr. Vien, the benchmark score of a major does not only depend on the graduation exam results but also varies from major to major and the reputation of the school. For example, in the same major of computer science at Vietnam-Germany University, the number of candidates for admission has increased rapidly in recent years, leading to an increase in benchmark scores.

This year, the school enrolls 9 majors and the minimum score is 18-21 depending on the major. Last year, the standard score for each major was 18-22. In addition, the school teaches entirely in English, so candidates need to meet the English entrance requirements according to the school's regulations.

Master Tran Van Trang also said that up to this point, from the Ministry of Education and Training system, it can be seen that the number of candidates and the number of wishes to register for the school are both higher than in 2023. For example, at Saigon International University, the standard score is usually 1-2 points higher than the floor score.

Mr. Vo Ngoc Nhon also said: "This year, the school will recruit 63 university training majors. The minimum score for each major is from 16 to 21 points, except for health sciences, majors with high minimum scores are those that are attractive to candidates. It can be predicted that this year's standard score may be equal to or slightly higher than last year's."

However, predicting this year's university benchmark scores, Mr. Nhon said that the level of fluctuation in benchmark scores will vary by industry group and school.
