The Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training has just issued a decision to recognize 679 students admitted directly to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year.
Of this total, there are 106 students from the Ethnic Boarding School; 408 students with disabilities; 164 students who won national prizes in culture, arts, sports; scientific and technical research competitions; and 1 student from a very small ethnic group.
Hanoi Department of Education and Training stipulates that students admitted under direct admission must complete admission procedures at the high school registering for direct admission within the prescribed time.
Specifically, students who are eligible for direct admission to grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year must confirm their enrollment from July 10 to July 12. Submit their enrollment applications from July 19 to July 22, 2025.
Previously, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training had issued guidelines on conditions for direct admission to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year. Students can only be directly admitted to a high school in the enrollment area where the student (or parent, or guardian) has a permanent residence.
In case students are eligible for direct admission but do not wish to be directly admitted, they must take the entrance exam for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year, taking place on June 7 and 8.
In order to ensure the rights of students in participating in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, on May 21, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training sent a document to the district, town and city education and training departments regarding 10th grade entrance exams.
Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requested the district, town and city education and training departments to announce the results of direct admission to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year and to follow the Department's instructions on this content.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training further noted that students using provincial and city-level competition results that are not covered by Article 14 of the Regulations on Secondary School and High School Admissions will not receive bonus points.
The Departments of Education and Training are responsible for directing educational institutions to guide students who are not admitted directly to register for the exam (if any) within the prescribed time, absolutely not allowing students to not grasp the information or be psychologically affected due to not understanding the regulations on direct admission of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Schools need to pay attention to fully informing students about national and international competitions that are not regulated in Article 14 of the Admissions Regulations, including: National Youth and Children's Creativity Competition organized by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; National Youth Informatics Competition and the "Uncle Ho with Children - Children with Uncle Ho" competition in 2025; International and regional competitions such as: International Science and Technology in Switzerland in 2023, World Invention and Creativity Olympic (WICO)... not decided by the Minister of Education and Training to select students to participate in the competition according to Circular No. 30/2024.
