On November 20, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh City Education and Training Sector (1975-2025) and the 43rd anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day.

Looking back over the past 50 years, Ho Chi Minh City’s education sector has affirmed its pioneering role in innovation and creativity. The city has implemented many breakthrough models: from implementing the new general education program, applying information technology and digital transformation, to building happy schools and developing internationally integrated education.
Ho Chi Minh City is a locality that effectively socializes education, mobilizes social resources to expand the school network, improve facilities, and create conditions for millions of students to study in a better environment.
The quality of both mass and advanced education has been improved, many students have won international awards, and many of the city's universities are among the leading universities in the country in training and scientific research.
According to Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, Ho Chi Minh City has affirmed its pioneering role in implementing activities to prepare for the Project "Gradually bringing English to become the second language in schools" according to Conclusion 91/KL-TW. The activities were organized in a systematic and scientific manner, demonstrating the strategic vision of the city's education sector.
Since the 2014-2015 school year, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented the Project "Teaching and learning Math, Science and English integrating the English and Vietnamese programs", creating a solid foundation with more than 10 years of successful implementation experience.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc sent his best wishes and deepest gratitude to teachers on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day.
He emphasized that over the past 50 years, the flow of Ho Chi Minh City's history has always left a strong mark on the city's education and training sector. "Right after the liberation day, when the city was still facing many difficulties and shortages, it was the teachers, with their revolutionary enthusiasm and boundless love, who turned makeshift classrooms and white chalk into the first places to nurture knowledge," said the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Ho Chi Minh City is always proud of its team of teachers, who are not only good at their profession but also rich in personality, always dynamic, creative, and leading in all emulation movements. The remarkable development of the city today in all fields of economy, culture, society, national security and defense, and Party building all have the great and lasting contribution of the education sector.
Millions of outstanding citizens of the city's education sector have been trained and nurtured to hold important positions, contributing to building the country to become increasingly prosperous, civilized and happy.
According to comrade Nguyen Van Duoc, Ho Chi Minh City is currently holding different potentials, facing new opportunities, but also facing many difficulties, so the requirements for the education sector are extremely large.
The city not only needs an education system that imparts knowledge, awakens potential, fosters aspirations, and trains life skills and global citizenship skills for future generations, but the first important thing in education is moral education. Cultivating people must start with personality, then education about knowledge and skills.
Thereby, the City's education sector needs to build a team of teachers who are not only solid in expertise but also shining examples of ethics and lifestyle, truly exemplary "engineers of the soul"; fundamentally and comprehensively innovate management work, teaching and learning methods, strongly apply information technology to improve the quality of comprehensive education; pay deep attention to the work of educating ethics, lifestyle, and practical skills, so that each student and university graduate is not only good at their profession but also a responsible citizen with a compassionate heart; in particular, effectively and successfully implement the "Happy School" criteria set at 100% of educational institutions in the city.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the activities of the education and training sector of Ho Chi Minh City.
