The successful results of the visit created strong momentum, bringing the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into a more comprehensive and profound development phase in a new era for both countries.
The visit is of special significance, being the first visit by General Secretary To Lam and the first visit by a General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Korea in 11 years. General Secretary To Lam is also the first foreign leader to pay a state visit to Korea since the new government was established. This vividly demonstrates and affirms that Vietnam and Korea respect each other and give high priority to the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the visit, the leaders and people of Korea welcomed General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, with solemn ceremony and warm feelings. General Secretary To Lam had important high-level talks with President Lee Jae Myung; met with Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Sik; delivered a policy speech at Yonsei University; attended the Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum, a seminar on science and technology; received the leader of the Korea-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group; met with representatives of the Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea, delegates of intellectuals, associations, people's organizations, and a number of leading Korean enterprises... The General Secretary also witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between ministries, branches, localities and enterprises of the two countries in the fields of technology, energy, digital transformation, infrastructure, supply chain, finance and banking, services, tourism, human resource training, etc.
During the talks and meetings, in a friendly, sincere and open atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam and the Korean leaders shared their assessment that the Vietnam-Korea relationship is in a very good development stage, with remarkable progress and outstanding bright spots in cooperation.
After 33 years of establishing diplomatic relations (1992-2025), Vietnam and Korea have become comprehensive strategic partners, cooperating extensively in all fields, supporting and coordinating each other in multilateral and international organizations and forums.
The leaders of the two countries had an in-depth exchange of views and reached important common perceptions on comprehensively promoting and deepening the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as on regional and international issues of mutual concern. The leaders reaffirmed that the two countries are each other's leading important partners in all fields, emphasizing that the achievements over the past 33 years are a solid foundation and long-term driving force for the two countries to continue to consolidate and bring the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into a new phase, more comprehensive, profound, substantial and effective.
The Joint Statement on deepening the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership stated: General Secretary To Lam and President Lee Jae Myung agreed that, in the context of the rapidly and complicated developments in the world situation, in the spirit of looking to the future for the sustainable development of bilateral relations, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea will continue to deepen cooperation in all fields to ensure the practical interests of the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
Major orientations focus on specific areas of cooperation such as: Firmly consolidating political trust and promoting substantive cooperation in the fields of diplomacy, defense and security; bringing economic, trade and investment, science and technology cooperation and development cooperation to a new level; Strengthening cooperation in labor, health, education to be worthy of a comprehensive strategic partnership; promoting cooperation in sustainable development, climate change response, agriculture and infrastructure; deepening cooperation in culture, sports, tourism, media and people-to-people exchange, creating deeper connections and understanding between the two countries; closely cooperating in international and regional forums and mechanisms.
The State visit to the Republic of Korea by General Secretary To Lam, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation was a great success, marking a new milestone, raising the stature of the Vietnam-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, meeting the aspirations and interests of the people of the two countries in the new era - the era of development and prosperity, contributing to peace, stability and development of the region and the world.
