On the afternoon of April 16, the National Assembly Standing Committee's Supervisory Delegation worked with Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted on the development and use of human resources, especially high-quality human resources. Do Chi Nghia, a full-time delegate at the Committee for Culture and Society, chaired the meeting.

Comprehensive education, specialized training
Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted has the function of training at the junior high and high school levels; discovering intelligent students who achieve excellent results in their studies and developing their talents in one of the school's specialized subjects, educating students to become patriotic people, with the spirit of overcoming difficulties, national pride and self-respect; capable of self-study, scientific research and creativity; having good health to continue training them into talents to meet the development requirements of the capital Hanoi in particular and the country in general.
Reporting to the monitoring delegation, Principal of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Tran Thuy Duong, said that the school currently has 77 classrooms and 2,689 students. Aiming at the goal of comprehensive education and specialized training, the school focuses on building an open educational environment, lifelong learning; innovating teaching and scientific research methods, approaching new educational achievements of the world; interdisciplinary teaching and promoting scientific research activities among students. Students are allowed to conduct experiments and practice with modern equipment; to study at factories, scientific institutes, hospitals, etc.

In the period of 2020 - 2025, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted has always been in the top of schools with high scores in the National High School Exam and the 10th grade entrance exam of Hanoi city. The school also regularly ranks first nationwide in the number of awards in the annual national excellent student selection exam, such as in the 2023 - 2024 school year, winning 105 awards, leading the country.
In the international arena, the school's students have made Vietnamese intelligence famous at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), the Nordic Physics Olympiad, the International Chemistry Olympiad, the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad held for the first time in Bulgaria... From the 2020-2021 school year to the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, the total awards in the school's international science competitions are 107, including 26 gold medals, 36 silver medals, 37 bronze medals, and 8 consolation prizes.
In addition to leading education in specialized subjects, the school focuses on career guidance experiences, especially in the fields of STEM, AI and Robotics. The school is a pioneer in digital transformation in the education sector. The school's STEM education ecosystem has now become strong, flourishing and the model has been replicated in many other provinces and cities.

In particular, "with the orientation of comprehensive education, both red and specialized, from 2022 to now, the school has admitted 21 students to the Party, sent many outstanding students to attend classes to foster awareness of the Party and introduced them to the next educational institution so that they have the conditions to continue to strive and practice", Principal Tran Thuy Duong informed.
Investing in equipment to promote STEM education
Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted builds a leading specialized school brand to attract good teachers; advises the Department of Education and Training to recruit highly qualified teachers, excellent graduates, valedictorians from leading pedagogical universities at home and abroad; cooperates with schools to discover and nurture future teachers.
In addition, create a dynamic, academic working environment that respects expertise and empowers teachers to be creative. Reward and evaluate competition transparently, linked to achievements in training excellent students, achievements in other competitions such as science and technology, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI)... Teachers are given priority to participate in research projects, educational innovation projects, experience initiatives, and sharing expertise at national and international levels.

Financial resources for educational activities in schools, in addition to the state budget and tuition fees, also come from sponsorship from parents, social organizations, units, and businesses. Teaching equipment (projectors, smart boards, smart screens, etc. in classrooms; computers for IT rooms), green campuses, and outdoor libraries are also invested in and cared for with support from VinUni University, parents of students in each grade, and benefactors.
Facing the trend of developing digital technology, integrated teaching, scientific research, STEM... to meet the demand for high-quality human resources in the future, the school has also called for investment from businesses and units to build a STEM lab (sponsored by VinUni University), a Samsung lab (a reward for the school's students who won excellent prizes in the competition organized by Samsung)...
From practical operations, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted proposes to have more specific guidelines on socialization in education so that the school can apply and create high consensus; have more appropriate policies, creating conditions for the school to proactively receive high-quality human resources in the teaching system. The school also wishes to be equipped with more experimental equipment to promote teaching and learning in the direction of STEM education...

At the meeting, members of the Supervisory Delegation learned more about the role of specialized schools in training talents for the country; soft skills education and career orientation for specialized school students; the quality of the teaching staff and the mechanism for attracting good teachers for specialized schools; the mechanism for promoting socialization in the school's educational activities...
The monitoring delegation acknowledged and highly appreciated the training quality of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted in recent times, always in the top not only of Hanoi education but also of the whole country; thereby contributing to discovering and training many talents, especially in basic sciences. The monitoring delegation hoped that the school would promote its long tradition (40 years), share to spread its operating model, as well as learn from experiences and good lessons from other specialized schools, building a happy, high-quality educational environment.
The information exchanged at the meeting helped the Supervisory Delegation better understand the operating model, educational methods, and quality of the teaching staff of one of the four specialized schools in Hanoi. The school's recommendations will be compiled and considered by the Delegation in meetings with the Hanoi People's Committee and the Government, as well as in the completion of related policies.
