On December 16th, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health announced that a food poisoning incident in Phan Thiet ward resulted in 86 people being hospitalized with symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever. Of these, 24 cases were in stable condition and discharged; the remaining 62 cases continued to receive treatment at the hospital.
The Lam Dong Department of Health reported that the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) has issued a document requesting the locality to investigate and clarify the incident. The Food Safety Department requested hospitals to focus their resources on treatment, ensuring that the health and lives of the people are not affected.

The Food Safety Department has requested that local authorities trace the origin of the food, determine the cause of the poisoning, collect food and biological samples for testing, and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations.
As previously reported by Dan Tri newspaper, after eating bread at an establishment in Phan Thiet ward, dozens of people experienced symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever, and had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment.
Upon inspection, authorities initially determined that the owner of the bread shop could not produce a business registration certificate or a food safety certificate.
The ingredients used to make the cakes are purchased by the owner from the market without contracts or invoices. Some ingredients, such as pâté, butter, meat, pickles, and sauces, are prepared by the owner at home.
Authorities ordered the facility to temporarily cease operations and simultaneously collected food and biological samples to send to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang for testing.
