Proposal to discipline former Chairman of An Giang Province Vuong Binh Thanh and many officials

An Giang Provincial Party Committee proposed to review and discipline the Standing Committees of Long Xuyen City Party Committee and Chau Phu District Party Committee for many terms; including Mr. Vuong Binh Thanh, former Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee.

On the afternoon of May 10, the An Giang Provincial Party Committee issued a notice on reviewing and disciplining the Standing Committee of the Long Xuyen City Party Committee for the two terms 2015 - 2020 and 2020 - 2025 and the Standing Committee of the Chau Phu District Party Committee for five consecutive terms from the term 2000 - 2005 to present and reviewing and disciplining many individuals due to shortcomings and violations.

Disciplinary review of two former Secretaries of Long Xuyen City Party Committee

According to the announcement, the Standing Committee of Long Xuyen City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term lacked responsibility in inspecting and supervising the Long Xuyen City People's Committee and its affiliated agencies in violating the law on compensation and resettlement support; approved adjustments to the investment policy for the construction of the An Giang University West Expansion Project without proper authority; and did not organize the handover of resettlement housing plots in accordance with regulations.

Similarly, the Standing Committee of the Long Xuyen City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term was irresponsible, allowing the Long Xuyen City People's Committee and its affiliated agencies to continue violating the law on compensation and resettlement support for people in the Le Trong Tan Street upgrade project; not handing over resettlement land in accordance with regulations; directing budget expenditures against regulations. As a result, many party organizations and party members were disciplined and 17 defendants who were cadres and party members were prosecuted by the investigation agency.

An Giang Provincial Party Committee proposed to consider and discipline the former Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of Long Xuyen City Party Committee for the two terms of 2015 - 2020 and 2020 - 2025. Among them, there are Mr. Pham Thanh Thai, former Secretary of the City Party Committee for the 2015 - 2020 term, former Chairman of Long Xuyen City People's Committee for the 2016 - 2021 term and Ms. Dang Thi Hoa Ray, former Secretary of the City Party Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term, former Chairman of Long Xuyen City People's Committee for the 2 terms of 2016 - 2021 and 2021 - 2026.

In addition, the An Giang Provincial Party Committee also proposed reviewing the responsibilities of many other individuals who had shortcomings during the two terms of 2015 - 2020 and 2020 - 2025.

Proposing the police to investigate the violations of the Vinh Tre residential area project

An Giang Provincial Party Committee proposed to consider disciplining the Standing Committee of Chau Phu District Party Committee for 5 consecutive terms (from 2000 to 2025) due to serious violations related to the Vinh Tre residential area project.

In addition, the An Giang Provincial Party Committee also considered and disciplined 16 party members who were Chau Phu District Party Committee Secretaries and related people, including Mr. Vuong Binh Thanh, former Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, term 2016 - 2021, former Chau Phu District Party Committee Secretary from May 2002 to May 2005; Mr. Tran Thanh Nha, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of the Provincial Party Agencies, former Chau Phu District Party Committee Secretary from June 2015 - October 2023, former Chairman of Chau Phu District People's Committee, from May 2018 - October 2023.

An Giang Provincial Party Committee assigned An Giang Provincial Police to direct the Investigation Police Agency to clarify acts with signs of law violations against the Vinh Tre Residential Area Project for handling according to legal regulations, including the transfer of land use rights for 54 plots of land in Vinh Tre Residential Area from 2007 to 2011 in violation of land management regulations and the auction of 270 plots of land in violation of regulations.
