On May 3, the Department of Food Safety (FSS), Ministry of Health sent a document to the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) regarding coordination in reviewing and handling health protection foods that are violating regulations and being traded and advertised online.
According to the Food Safety Department, currently, on some e-commerce trading floors, websites, and social networks, two health protection food products are being advertised and sold, including: Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold and Best Slim Collagen.
These are two products containing the banned substance sibutramine and the Food Safety Department has sent an official dispatch to the authorities in 63 provinces and cities requesting supervision and recall of the two products mentioned above. The Food Safety Department also confirmed that, of the two products above, the health protection food product Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold has not been announced, the registration acceptance number of the announcement on the packaging is incorrect.
To ensure the rights and health of consumers, the Food Safety Department requests the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy to remove advertisements for the above products on e-commerce trading floors; e-commerce applications; strengthen management of e-commerce trading floors, and prevent counterfeit and recalled products from being sold on e-commerce trading floors.
The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information removed advertisements for the above products on websites, and requested Facebook and YouTube to review, remove, and close advertisements for the above violating products.
The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development shall strengthen market management; control the circulation of the above-mentioned violating products; promptly handle acts of trading in smuggled goods; production and trade of counterfeit goods, prohibited goods, and goods of unknown origin according to regulations.
Recently, the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene tested the monitoring samples and found that two products, Dang Xuan Phuc Linh Gold and Best Slim Collagen, contained Sibutramine, a substance banned from use in medicine and food. Sibutramine suppresses appetite and has many dangerous side effects on the cardiovascular system, causing heart attacks, arrhythmias, high blood pressure, and strokes.
