Grade 10 Literature exam of Lai Chau province using old grade 12 textbook

(Dan Tri) - The 10th grade literature exam in Lai Chau province used the poem "Uncle Ho" by poet To Huu as the material, which was included in the old 12th grade literature textbook.

The literature exam for the 10th grade entrance exam for Lai Chau province consists of 2 parts. Part 1, reading comprehension, worth 4 points, uses an excerpt from the poem "Uncle Ho" by poet To Huu, requiring candidates to confirm the poetic form, artistic devices and meaning of the poem.

In part 2, the literary argument is worth 2 points and requires candidates to analyze the first stanza of the above poem. The social argument is worth 4 points and requires candidates to present their opinions on the issue of students abusing social networks.

Notably, the literature material is in the 12th grade literature textbook, volume 1, old program, additional reading section, pages 167-168.

Last year, 12th, 9th and 5th graders still used textbooks from the 2006 generaleducation program.

The 2024-2025 school year is the first year to implement the unified 2018 general education program from grades 1 to 12.

Official dispatch 3935 of the Ministry of Education and Training on guidelines for implementing secondary education tasks for the 2024-2025 school year requires avoiding the use of texts and excerpts learned in textbooks as test materials to assess reading comprehension and writing skills in periodic tests.

This regulation of the Ministry aims to overcome the situation where students only memorize lessons or copy the content of available documents.

However, the Ministry does not specify whether the 10th grade literature exam can use old textbook materials or not.

The 2025 Lai Chau province public 10th grade exam took place on May 26-27 with the participation of nearly 6,000 candidates.

Literature exam will be held on the morning of May 26, English exam will be held in the afternoon of the same day and math exam will be held on the morning of May 27.

Candidates taking specialized subjects to enroll in Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will take the exam on the afternoon of May 27.

Lai Chau plans to announce the 10th grade exam results before June 10.
