According to the Ministry of Home Affairs , after synthesizing the opinions of 13 relevant ministries and agencies, 100% agreed with the plan proposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. On that basis, the Ministry of Home Affairs proposed to the Prime Minister a plan for the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, socio-political organizations and workers in the business sector who are not civil servants or public employees in the following direction: For civil servants and public employees, the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026 will be 5 days off according to regulations, including 1 day off before Tet and 4 days after Tet. Civil servants and public employees will have the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026 from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (ie December 27, year of the Snake) to Sunday, February 22, 2026 (ie January 6, year of the Horse). Thus, during the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have 9 days off (including 5 days off for the Lunar New Year according to regulations and 4 days off every week).

On the occasion of National Day holiday in 2026, the holiday will be on September 2, 2026 of the Gregorian calendar and the day immediately preceding September 1, 2026; swap from working day Monday (August 31, 2026) to weekly day off Saturday (August 22, 2026). Civil servants and public employees will have National Day holiday in 2026 from Saturday
August 29, 2026 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026 of the Gregorian calendar. Thus, on the occasion of National Day holiday in 2026, civil servants and public employees will have 5 days off (including 2 National Day holidays according to regulations, 2 weekly days off and 1 day exchanged with a weekly day off).

For employees, based on actual conditions and holiday schedules for civil servants and public employees, employers arrange Lunar New Year and National Day holidays for employees. Specifically, for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026, choose 1 day at the end of the year of At Ty and the first 4 days of the year of Binh Ngo, or 2 days at the end of the year of At Ty and the first 3 days of the year of Binh Ngo, or 3 days at the end of the year of At Ty and the first 2 days of the year of Binh Ngo.

On the occasion of the National Day holiday in 2026, the employer decides to give employees 2 days off (September 2 and 1 day before or after). Notify employees of the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2026 at least 30 days before implementation.

If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday or Tet holiday as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employer shall arrange compensatory weekly day off for the employee on the next working day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code. Employers are encouraged to apply the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2026 for employees as the same plan as for civil servants and public employees; encourage agreements that are more beneficial to employees.
