Reporting to the inspection team, Mr. Nguyen Vu Quy, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, said that from October 26 to October 30, heavy rain over a large area caused landslides at 21 locations on the route with a total volume of about 146,000m3 .

Up to now, the work of clearing landslides has been basically completed, the route has been cleared. However, the location Km42+700 still has the potential risk of further landslides, so it is temporarily limited to one lane and is being focused on handling.

At Km50+700 - Km50+800, a landslide occurred on the negative slope, damaging part of the road surface, causing the retaining wall on the negative slope to collapse. Currently, Larsen IV piles have been installed to support the roadbed on the positive slope and a temporary road has been built with cement concrete to ensure two-way traffic.

At the landslide sites, construction units used specialized machinery to level and clear tons of mud and rocks. The cleanup work was carried out urgently, ensuring the route was cleared as soon as possible.

In the long term, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board proposed a detailed survey of terrain, geology, and hydrology to choose a stable solution.

The temporary traffic assurance plan is to install two rows of piles within the landslide area, keeping the roadbed about 9m wide from the edge of the positive slope ditch to make a temporary road to serve the construction process.

The long-term design adjustment plan is to excavate the entire roadbed in the slide area and replace it with a viaduct. The bridge is expected to consist of four Super-T spans, approximately 176m long and 22m wide (including two independent links).

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van basically agreed with the proposal to build an overpass at the landslide location at Km50+700 - Km50+800. The Deputy Minister assigned the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board to coordinate with the Department of Economics - Construction Investment Management (Ministry of Construction) to survey and study suitable options to report to the Ministry of Construction. At the same time, speed up the disbursement progress, clear landslides on the route, and ensure smooth traffic.
