At 8:00 p.m. on May 20, after dinner, 5 members of Mr. Nguyen Khac Phong's family (born in 1954, residing in Vinh An village, Luu Vinh Son commune, Thach Ha district) quickly arrived at the field right next to provincial road 550 to wait for the harvester to harvest their family's 3 sao of rice.

According to Mr. Phong, the weather was quite hot during the day and the children had their own work, so the family switched to harvesting rice in the evening. The weather was cool at night, so within a few hours, the family had harvested 3 sao of rice. Depending on the location and condition of the field, the price for each sao of rice is around 150,000 VND.

After harvesting, the rice is "harvested" by the combine near provincial road 550 - where Mr. Phong's family has prepared a vehicle to transport it home.

Each bag of rice was transported ashore.

Families almost just stand on the edge of the fields to wait for the rice and arrange it on the truck before transporting it home.

At this time, other localities in Ha Tinh also entered the concentrated spring rice harvest season. The rice ripens simultaneously, many families choose to harvest rice at night to avoid the heat and not have to spend a lot of time waiting for the harvester like during the day.

The rice harvest time in the evening usually starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. “Although harvesting rice at night has limited light, it is cooler and less tiring...”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngu (born in 1960, residing in Nam Phuc Thang commune, Cam Xuyen district) shared.

According to the assessment of the professional agency, this year's spring crop will continue to have a good harvest. The average yield in the whole province is estimated to reach 61.75 quintals/ha (higher than the 2024 spring crop by 0.58 quintals/ha).

According to the forecast from the Ha Tinh Hydrometeorological Station, from now until May 23, the weather is generally quite good for farmers to harvest rice when many places are hot and sunny, some places may still have light showers and thunderstorms but mainly in mountainous areas and the rain is not heavy, in a small area.
