As a commune outside the dike of Duc Tho district, with a low starting point and many difficulties in people's lives, Tung Chau commune has focused on implementing many measures in social security and poverty reduction. Thanks to that, the locality has become a "bright spot" with many remarkable results, helping to improve people's lives.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet - Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tung Chau commune shared: "Front work requires cadres to always think, research, be creative, be close to the grassroots, and contact the people to understand what they need and what is really important to poor and near-poor households. From there, the Fatherland Front of the commune will make specific plans and advise leaders at all levels to come up with timely and effective support plans."
In 2023 - 2024, in addition to the support of the Fatherland Front at higher levels, the Fatherland Front of Tung Chau commune called for and mobilized support from other resources to build 4 houses for poor households with a total value of more than 300 million VND. In addition, the unit also connected businesses and children of the commune to support 50 million VND for students, 10 million VND for poor students to overcome difficulties and excel in their studies; 5 million VND to encourage disabled children; called on businesses to support the "Godmother" program with an amount of 12 million VND; awarded 10 chicken farming models worth 20 million VND to disadvantaged households in the area. Up to now, Tung Chau commune has only 25/1126 poor households, accounting for 0.22%.

Ms. Phan Thi Dien (born in 1949, residing in Thinh Kim village, Tung Chau commune) shared: “Previously, my family lived in a dilapidated shack, the rainy and windy weather was extremely difficult, both sons suffered from traumatic brain injuries, I alone became the main pillar of the family. In 2021, my family received support to build a house, and in 2023, we continued to receive a cow raising livelihood model. Thanks to the guidance and care of the commune's Fatherland Front officials, local leaders, and hamlets, I was somewhat comforted, my difficulties were reduced, and my life was much more stable."
Sharing the joy with Ms. Dien, the lives of many households in Tung Chau commune have also gradually changed thanks to the attention and support of leaders at all levels, especially the grassroots front. Mr. Nguyen Huu Duc - Head of Thinh Kim village said: "In the past time, the Fatherland Front at all levels has taken drastic actions to effectively implement many activities such as: supporting livelihoods, job training for poor and near-poor households; focusing on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses; giving gifts and supporting households in difficult circumstances... In Thinh Kim village, people's lives have changed more and more clearly, from new houses, effective livelihood models, people actively producing, building new rural areas... From there, the emulation movement of production has spread strongly to many other households in the area".

In Truong Son commune (Duc Tho district), the Fatherland Front of the commune has also implemented many solutions towards building a stable and sustainable life for poor and near-poor households. The locality regularly reviews the circumstances to select suitable livelihood models. In particular, instead of providing breeding animals like other places, the Fatherland Front of Truong Son commune provides funds for people to choose breeding animals themselves.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Long (born in 1959, residing in Kim Ma village, Truong Son commune) shared: “In 2024, my family received support of 10 million VND, after that, I decided to spend an additional 5 million VND to buy a calf. Choosing the breed myself helps my family understand the origin, climate conditions, and development environment of the calf, thereby having appropriate care methods for the calf to develop and reproduce well, helping to increase family income”.

Not only being creative in giving "fishing rods" to poor households, the Fatherland Front of Truong Son commune also focuses on grasping the locality, surveying people's needs to effectively support the implementation of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. "From 2021 to now, in Truong Son commune, 36 houses have been built for poor and near-poor households; 15 livelihood models for raising cows and chickens have been awarded... Currently, Truong Son commune has 63 poor households (30 households less than in 2021) and 62 near-poor households (38 households less than in 2021)", Mr. Nguyen Van Hoai - Chairman of the Fatherland Front of Truong Son commune shared.
Mr. Bui Ngoc Nhat - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Tho district shared: “In the past time, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the district has promoted its functions and tasks, focused on doing a good job of propaganda and mobilizing people to develop economic models to increase income and stabilize their lives. In addition, many localities have had creative ways to mobilize real resources to effectively promote poverty reduction. The grassroots Fatherland Front are all enthusiastic cadres, with expertise and experience, closely following the locality, "going to every alley, knocking on every door" to review each subject, advising the district Fatherland Front to come up with effective support plans. Up to now, the poverty rate in the district has decreased from 2.96% (943 households) in 2021 to 2.34% (737 households) in 2025".
