Thach Ha farmers in the spring peanut harvest season

Thinh Loc commune has many advantages in peanut production and its productivity is always among the top in Thach Ha district, even the whole province, because it has sandy coastal soil, suitable climate, and hard-working and experienced farmers. This spring peanut crop, the above factors have continued to help farmers here plant early (before Tet) in many specialized areas.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Dong's family in Hoa Binh village (Thinh Loc commune) mobilized maximum manpower to harvest peanuts in the spring crop of 2025.

Currently, farmers are focusing on harvesting areas in the garden and high fields so that in about a week they can harvest on a large scale. Mr. Nguyen Khac Dong (Hoa Binh village, Thinh Loc commune) informed: “This year's spring peanut crop, my family planted 7 sao of peanuts, and have already harvested 2 sao, striving to complete the final stage of this crop in the next 10 days. In the harvested areas, the yield is about 1.4 quintals/sao (equivalent to 28 quintals/ha). In the coming days, we will mobilize maximum manpower to promptly deploy the summer-autumn crop and avoid the risk of damage due to the impact of small floods".

Mr. Nguyen Khac Anh - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thinh Loc commune said: “This year, the commune continues to maintain its "second place" position in terms of area (over 180 hectares), leading in peanut productivity in Thach Ha district. Up to this point, people have harvested about 20% of the area and the progress will be accelerated next week. In addition to urging, directing and encouraging people, we are also actively following the fields to evaluate productivity, support consumption, and gain experience for better production results in the next crop…”

The spring peanut harvest has begun in full swing in the fields of Thach Ha district, especially in the high fields that were planted early. Mr. Tran Van Dien (Phu Nghia TDP, Loc Ha town) shared: “This crop, my family has grown more than 1 hectare of peanuts scattered in 5 fields. I am mobilizing workers to harvest in the fields near the foot of the mountain or on the sand slopes (that were planted early). We strive to harvest about half of the area in about a week and finish the crop in 15 days.”

In the spring crop of 2025, Thach Ha district will produce nearly 1,000 hectares of peanuts in the fields. To improve production efficiency, farmers mainly use varieties suitable for soil and climate conditions and "verified" through previous production crops; mainly: L14, V79, TV 25, L29, L27, chrysanthemum peanuts, fat peanuts... Localities producing spring peanuts with large areas include: Loc Ha town, Thinh Loc, Thach Chau, Thach My, Mai Phu, Thach Ha town, Thach Son...

Currently, along with visiting the fields to evaluate productivity, localities in Thach Ha have begun to hastily harvest spring peanuts. This final stage is carried out in the order of the place that sows first, the harvest is early. The peanuts are picked and separated right at the foot of the field before being brought back for preliminary processing and preservation, the stems are dried to grind into animal feed. The expected harvest time is about 20 - 25 days, around mid-June 2025 to be completed in time for the summer-autumn crop production and to avoid the impact of natural disasters.

According to the assessment of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - an officer of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thach Ha district: Thanks to favorable weather, stable varieties, good care from the people and the attention, leadership, direction, urging and guidance from authorities at all levels and professional agencies, productivity and output are basically stable. Currently, localities and people are focusing on visiting the fields, evaluating production efficiency and the expected productivity of the whole district is 25.5 - 26 quintals/ha, basically achieving the set target.
