Arrived at Thanh Tam Pagoda at midnight, waiting to worship Buddha's relics

Thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people came to Thanh Tam Pagoda (Lonely Buddha) to worship Buddha's relics on the morning of May 3.

From early morning on May 3, thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people gathered in the waiting area to be arranged by the organizers to visit the Buddha's relics.

Many people come to Thanh Tam Pagoda at midnight. The family of Ms. Duong Huong Ly (Vung Tau city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) is a typical example.

Through the media, Ms. Huong Ly and her family learned about the Buddha's relics and decided to rent a car to Ho Chi Minh City.

The number of people flocking to Thanh Tam Pagoda to worship Buddha's relics is increasing.

"This is the first time my family has come to Ho Chi Minh City to visit a pagoda and worship Buddha's relics. I feel happy and elated," Ms. Duong Huong Ly told Tuoi Tre Online .

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van (Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City) emotionally shared with Tuoi Tre Online after worshiping:

"It is very touching to be able to worship Buddha's relics right in Vietnam because not everyone has the opportunity to go abroad. Thank you to the Indian Government and Vietnamese agencies for creating conditions for people to worship Buddha's relics."

Currently, the number of people flocking to Thanh Tam Pagoda to worship Buddha's relics is increasing.

Under the direction of volunteers, people lined up in an orderly manner in the seating area, waiting for their turn to worship.

According to the organizers, the worship time is from May 3 to noon on May 8. Except for the morning of May 6, which is reserved exclusively for delegates attending the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival .

Visiting time is from 6am to 10pm every day.

Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien - Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Vice President, General Secretary of the National Organizing Committee for the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival - said that after being enshrined at Thanh Tam Pagoda, the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni will be enshrined at Ba Den Mountain ( Tay Ninh Province) from May 8 to 13.

At Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi) from May 13 to 16; at Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam) from May 17 to 21. After that, the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni were brought back to India.

The 2025 Vesak Festival is co-organized by the International Organizing Committee for the United Nations Day of Vesak (ICDV) and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

This is the fourth time Vietnam has hosted the event, previously in Hanoi (2008), Ninh Binh (2014) and Ha Nam (2019).

It is expected that 85 countries and territories will participate in Vesak 2025 in Vietnam. This is the 20th time the festival has been held.

Vesak 2025 takes place from May 6 to 8 at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City.

The main message of Vesak 2025 in Vietnam is "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development".
