Lao Cai launches peak campaign to fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

(PLVN) - On the morning of May 30, Lao Cai city held a working group meeting to launch a peak campaign to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement in the area.

Faced with increasingly sophisticated and complicated violations, the City People's Committee directed functional forces such as Market Management, Police, Customs, City Steering Committee 389... to closely coordinate and strengthen inspection and control at key routes and areas, especially border gates, central markets, warehouses and inter-provincial traffic routes.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Chairman of Lao Cai City People's Committee emphasized: "The fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods must be considered an important, regular and long-term political task. All units need to focus highly, take drastic actions, with no forbidden areas and no exceptions. This peak period not only aims to rectify the situation of smuggling and trade fraud, but also to create a clear change in the awareness of law compliance of business organizations and individuals, protecting the legitimate rights of consumers and businesses."

The City People's Committee requested to promote the application of information technology in monitoring, supervising and managing goods in circulation in the area; promptly detect violations, especially on e-commerce platforms and social networks.

The authorities will strengthen inter-sectoral coordination and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law. Typical cases will be widely publicized in the media to deter and enhance propaganda effectiveness.

Along with inspection and handling, Lao Cai city also promotes propaganda and dissemination of laws on trade, intellectual property and consumer protection to raise awareness in the community.
