Thanks to the simultaneous planting of the 2023 Winter-Spring rice crop quite early, on time, and good care, the rice yield is quite high, making farmers more excited.

Wet rice in Dam Rong is mainly concentrated in the area of three communes Da M'rong, Da Tong, Da Long. Due to the terrain characteristics of many rivers and streams, some rocks, the rice areas are divided into large fields, typically Lieng Trang 1, Cil Mup, Da Nhinh 1, 2 fields (Da Tong commune), Da Xe village fields, Dong Cop (Da M'rong commune)...

In some terraced fields, the small area makes it difficult to bring in harvesters, so people still use sickles and cut by hand when harvesting.

Seen from above, the small, adjacent fields on the gentle slopes easily remind people of the golden season on the terraced fields of the hills in the Northwest highlands. Although not winding, the terraced fields in the ripe rice season here also create an extremely vivid natural picture.

For generations, the Cil and M'Nong ethnic groups have lived together in this area, creating a diverse traditional cultural identity. In addition to traditional upland rice cultivation, for about 20 years now, the local government has transferred techniques and encouraged people to become familiar with wet rice cultivation, both to ensure economic development.

Mr. Tran Tan Hung - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dam Rong district said that although the rice acreage in Dam Rong is not as large as in some other localities, rice is still one of the main crops in the locality. Thanks to that, the local food problem is somewhat guaranteed.

Since 2015, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has advised the District People's Committee and communes to carry out measures to direct and mobilize people to implement the same-season and same-crop system. Local authorities have directed the crop time frame, selected suitable and productive varieties, and instructed people on care, fertilization, pest control, etc.

Previously, with shifting cultivation, fragmented production, and each person doing their own thing, it unintentionally created difficulties in ensuring water supply to the fields as well as risks of pests and diseases on rice plants.

To increase productivity, the agricultural sector focuses on guiding and mobilizing people to practice simultaneous rice production, and organizing rice-growing ceremonies with the participation of local authorities.

Thanks to the application of scientific and technical advances, the average rice yield has also increased, with an area increased by 1.5 - 2 tons/ha. Thanks to that, people's lives have been somewhat improved, the famine seasons have also passed, creating the premise to escape poverty, rise up in life, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.

Harvesting rice is now less difficult than before thanks to the support of machinery. In some flat fields, the machines go down to the fields, the process of harvesting and transporting rice from the fields is also easier thanks to the system of internal roads, motorbikes, and agricultural vehicles for convenient travel and transportation.

In terraced fields, people still use traditional methods of harvesting by hand, carrying a shoulder pole, and threshing rice. This is also an opportunity for family members and villagers to exchange labor and help each other, maintaining good relationships in the community.
