The first person to have the number of the day was Mr. Nguyen Thai Hung (43 years old, from Quang Ngai). He said he rode a motorbike from Dong Nai and arrived at Saigon station at 3:30 am.

Every year he goes back to his hometown by train. This year he bought 5 round-trip tickets, totaling over 20 million VND, leaving on February 13 and returning on February 22, 2026.

“I live far from home so I try to come back every year. I thought about buying online but I was afraid of network congestion, so I went to the train station to buy it,” said Mr. Hung. He currently does business in Dong Nai.

Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of Saigon Railway Transport Branch, said that this year, Vietnam Railway Corporation issued train operation plans and ticket options earlier than every year, helping passengers have more choices of means of transport and proactively plan to return home for Tet.

According to Mr. Tuan, the electronic ticket system has stabilized with 4 official websites of the industry, stations, agents, e-wallets and banks, helping passengers easily buy tickets.

This year, the railway industry will serve Tet trains from February 3, 2026 to March 8, 2026 (ie December 16, At Ty year to January 20, Binh Ngo year).

In the Saigon station area alone, there are 193 trains to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Vinh and Hanoi . On average, there are about 16 trains departing from Saigon station every day.
