On May 14, a diner in Hanoi using the social network account DN posted an article sharing a bad experience at the Suon Muoi restaurant at 117 Nguyen Van Loc (Ha Dong, Hanoi). In the article, Ms. DN posted a picture of a salad plate with a strange object along with the status line: "This is the worm salad I just had at Suon 10 NVL. Unfortunately, I only discovered it after I had almost finished the salad plate."

The incident quickly gained attention on social media, attracting thousands of interactions. Many diners raised doubts about the restaurant's food safety.
On the morning of May 15, VietNamNet reporters contacted the restaurant's hotline but did not receive a response. At 10:30 a.m. the same day, the Suon Muoi restaurant chain's fanpage posted an apology to customers. It said: "Regarding the incident of Ms. DN when she had lunch on Sunday (May 14, 2023) at the Suon Muoi restaurant - 117 Nguyen Van Loc, Ha Dong, she discovered a foreign object (suspected to be an earthworm) in her salad, we sincerely apologize to Ms. DN and all customers who had lunch on May 14, 2023".

According to information from the restaurant, as soon as Ms. N. gave feedback about the dish directly at the restaurant, the staff changed her salad plate and did not charge her for this terrible meal experience.
Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the Manager of Suon Muoi chain tried to contact Ms. N. to apologize via personal messages and comments on Ms. N.'s post, but has not received a response from her.
"We found this to be a very serious error in the quality management and processing of products at the restaurant. Although we have been granted a certificate of Food Safety Qualified Facility, issued regulations and procedures in production and conducted training, the kitchen staff were negligent in the processing stage and the restaurant management continuously loosened control, so the standards of green vegetables provided to customers were not guaranteed. We would like to take full responsibility for the restaurant," wrote a representative of this restaurant chain.
According to the article, the Suon Muoi restaurant chain is inspecting the operations of Nguyen Van Loc restaurant, and reviewing all restaurants in the Suon Muoi system regarding the dish preparation process.
Currently, this restaurant chain has suspended operations at the facility on Nguyen Van Loc Street, and at the same time reviewed the kitchen department as well as the service staff, and retrained all employees on May 15 and 16; issued internal disciplinary decisions for: the kitchen staff responsible for preparing and processing the salad, the restaurant staff on the morning shift on May 14, and the restaurant manager for not following the process, lacking responsibility, causing serious consequences.
Suon Muoi also said that it will contact all customers who ate salad at Nguyen Van Loc on the afternoon of May 14, 2023 to inquire about their health and experience, and refund the entire meal. This restaurant chain will also work with the supplier to coordinate to improve the quality control of green vegetables from the farm to the customer's table.
