COVID-19 epidemic today: Infections increased nearly 4 times in 24 hours

Regarding the COVID-19 epidemic situation today , the Ministry of Health said that from 4:00 p.m. on March 18 to 4:00 p.m. on March 19, the whole country recorded 23 infections, an increase of nearly 4 times compared to the previous day. According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, the total number of COVID-19 infections in our country last week was 106 cases and there was also a reappearance of cases requiring ventilators.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had 11,527,139 infections, ranking 13th out of 230 countries and territories, while with the rate of infections per 1 million people, Vietnam ranks 117th out of 230 countries and territories (on average, there are 116,490 infections per 1 million people).

During the day, 10 more patients were announced to be cured, bringing the total number of cured cases to 10,614,857. The number of patients currently on oxygen is 5.

For 78 consecutive days, Vietnam has recorded no deaths due to COVID-19. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,186, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections. Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths ranks 7th out of 49 (ranked 3rd in ASEAN), deaths per 1 million people ranks 21st out of 49 countries and territories in Asia (ranked 3rd in ASEAN).

On March 18, 4,540 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in 4 provinces, including 4,316 doses for people aged 12 and over and 224 doses for children aged 5 to under 12. Thus, the total number of doses administered was 265,899,003.
